Exercise for people over 60
1. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room on each side.
With a 5 lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you will find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer than the last.
2. After a few weeks, move up to a 10 lb potato bag.
It will seem difficult at first, but you will find that you are able to improve each day.
3. Continue the progression.
Next, try a 20 lb bag and then move up to a 50 lb bag. Eventually, try to get to the point that you are able to lift a 100-pound potato bag in each hand and hold your arms out straight for a full minute. (I'm at this level.)
4. After you feel comfortable at this level...
Try adding a potato into each bag.
